I'm Mrs. Jennifer
Owner and Teacher/Tutor of "Village Tutoring"
of Little Blue House LLC

A little about me:

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education from Wichita State University (KS) in 2004. Since that time, I have worked in various educational capacities, including as a public school classroom teacher (primarily teaching English language arts) in both Cupertino, CA and Raleigh, NC.

In 2016, our family relocated to Lincoln NE, where I have served in various roles in Lincoln Public Schools (LPS), while also raising my own family, and serving as a volunteer teacher for a local refugee ministry.

Currently, I am an Education Coordinator at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln.

I am available in the evenings (after school), and on the weekends for 1:1 tutoring sessions for children in Preschool to 8th grade. Our sessions are tailored to meet the needs of each child. In general, I follow an Orton-Gillingham approach to literacy that is both structured, phonics-based, and multi-sensory. However, I am happy to modify my tutoring routines to match the needs and goals of each child and family. I am also here for "Homework Help" and support.

Village Tutoring (Little Blue House LLC) is also proud to contract with the Nebraska Dyslexia association providing part-time literacy intervention in Title 1 Schools across Lincoln, Nebraska.

What grades do you tutor?

I tutor children in grades preschool to 8th grade.

What subjects do you tutor?

  • English Language Arts (ELA)

  • Reading Support – including: decoding, encoding, reading fluency, reading comprehension, literary analysis, and more!

  • Spelling Support – including: the most important spelling rules & strategies for spelling success!

  • Writing Support – including: grammar, punctuation, and spelling; along with common writing styles (writing to persuade, inform, and entertain) along with helping older students with TDAs and essay-writing.

  • Dyslexia Support – I utilize an Orton Gillingham approach through the UFLI curriculum, which is OG aligned. Please note: I am trained, but not certified OG, which is reflective in my pricing.

  • Preschool Programing - We love working with emerging readers – teaching letter sounds, beginning blending, handwriting skills – and even decoding CVC books! All prior to Kindergarten!

Where do we meet?

We meet at my in-home tutoring classroom located in Village Gardens near 61st & Pine Lake (just around the corner from 402 Creamery!)
